Why This Resource Exists

Alabama release information is spread across agencies. County sheriffs document local jail bookings and exits, including bond, time served, transfer, and other dispositions. ADOC manages sentenced state prisoners, but its public inmate search contains only people who are currently incarcerated. A former prisoner's missing profile does not supply a release date or discharge status. Historical proof may require an ADOC records request, while parole and probation questions go to the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles.

Federal custody creates another split. The Bureau of Prisons locator reports federal status and release data, while ICE maintains its own detainee locator for immigration custody.   • It cannot promise that an agency's contact details, fee, or procedure has not changed.

Only the sheriff, ADOC, or another responsible custody agency can confirm current status, charges, transfer, or release.
